Identify the issue precisely

A useful correction report identifies the article URL, the statement in question, why it may be wrong and supporting primary evidence. Distinguish an error of fact from a difference in taste or interpretation.

Review and correction

Relevant evidence should be checked before a conclusion is reached. A substantive correction should identify what changed where appropriate; ordinary spelling or formatting improvements may not require a separate notice. Do not assume an article has been corrected until the published version reflects the change.
